Pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 at Irthlingborough Nursery and Infant School have been learning about plants and animals. The children worked with artist Abbie Canning to create their own stop motion animations about the topic from their drawings and Plasticine models.
Pupils also learnt about Augmented Reality, transforming colourful images of their work to reveal their animations using the Artivive app. Children took postcards of their images home to share the Augmented Reality experience with others using smart phones and tablet devices, with four large images left with the school for a dynamic display.
These workshops were part of the Northants CEP 2021 microcommission series of projects. The Northants Cultural Education Partnership brings together leading arts, education and community organisations across the county to support young people, schools and local groups to unlock access to high quality cultural opportunities.
