Increasing numbers of young people are likely to have experienced one or a combination of depression, anxiety, self-harming, recurring or recent hospitalisation, extreme grief (perhaps through the loss of family, even resulting in being placed into care), resulting in mild to extreme difficulty in social situations. A further disadvantage stemming from these circumstances is a lack of access to culture for the young people.
Join our campaign to raise funds to deliver an exciting long term series of bespoke artist led workshops with young people who cannot attend mainstream school due to diagnosed complex medical and/or mental health conditions.
After establishing relationships and successful processes in a pilot programme with children at Northamptonshire Hospital and Outreach Education who have been referred to them by the child’s mainstream school and are supported by a medical practitioner, we are looking to expand this provision to help establish a longer term partnership which will see activities delivered in learning centres around Northamptonshire, at our idyllic outreach base in Fermyn Woods, and directly within hospital settings.
As part of the Big Give’s Anchor Match Fund, for a limited period any donations towards our campaign target will be DOUBLED, helping the children to regularly engage in cultural activity, to develop emotionally, socially and artistically, and to gain Arts Award qualifications.
If we don’t raise our campaign target we will scale down the ambition of our project whilst supporting as many young people as possible, so any donation can really make a difference. If we are lucky enough to exceed our target we will extend the reach of our project, supporting life through art for more individuals and over a longer period.
The fundraising campaign runs from 9am on 30 May until 9am 18 July 2022.
