Universities

As one of the only arts organisations in the region working in the public realm, we offer a variety of opportunities for students and universities to engage with live projects and the day to day running of an arts organisation.

Students can work with us on a variety of individual placements and volunteering opportunities, or collectively as a group or university as a whole.

Our Director James Steventon has lectured in Art and Design at London Metropolitan University for over a decade, as well as delivering Professional Practice lectures to universities and colleges in the East Midlands, including University of Northampton, University of Derby and Tresham College.

As well as delivering both enrichment and freshers activities for University of Northampton, in 2015 we collaborated with University of Northampton’s School of The Arts to deliver Common Purpose, a conference with speakers from across the country exploring Contemporary Art production in an age of economic uncertainty.

In 2016 we were a cultural partner in University of Northampton’s ERASMUS funded Digital Learning Across Boundaries conference, exploring inclusive approaches to learning across the boundaries of physical spaces, across curriculum subjects and across languages and culture. In addition to showcasing Fermynwoods approach to using Technology Outdoors, we also delivered a hands on workshop for delegates from across Europe.

Fermynwoods have also provided work placement opportunities to students from University of Northampton’s BA (Hons) Special Educational Needs and Inclusion degree, and presented case studies from our Education programme for their Perspectives of Learning Theories and Approaches, and Current Issues and Developments in Inclusive Policy and Practice modules
